課程概述 |
This is a hands-on writing and reading course designed for graduate students who anticipate a career in academia that requires proficiency in scholarly writings, especially manuscripts slated for journal publications or conference presentations. The APA format is the main writing style, although other styles can be considered. Prerequisites include mastery of basic English grammar, proficiency in reading and understanding journal articles or conference papers in the field(s) of student’s pursuit. This is not a course about creative writing, or writing for fictional, or non-scholarly non-fictional purposes, such as news, editorial, novels, etc. The genre is called “scholarly” within the broad category of academic writing for specifically trained readers in a specific format—see discussion at http://sokogskriv.no/en/reading/academic-genres/. |
課程目標 |
1.To understand the English writing process in general and your own English writing process in particular;
2.To enhance your ability to overcome obstacles in proficient scholarly writing in English;
3.To learn the APA format, or the format of your choice, like the back of your hand; and
4.To complete one manuscript that is suitable for a refereed conference presentation.
